Finding Greatness in New York
Wednesday, October 18, 2017I'm excited to announce a really fun partnership today on Covering the Bases. When the world can be a little down, it's nice to find that greatness is closer than you think!
When the Poland Spring® brand reached out about their Greatness Springs from Here™ campaign, I jumped at the opportunity. I love collaborations that give back, showcase others and shed light on goodness in the world.
And with that, I've teamed up with the Poland Spring® brand to help find greatness in my local community -- one you might have heard of... they call it New York City. And there's no doubt that there are some of the brightest, most driven and amazing people on this little island. You don't have to look far for greatness in NYC!
Over the next six weeks I plan on showcasing people, places and organizations that are near to my heart and ones that I think are great examples of greatness in the community. Some of the people I'm featuring are ones I cannot live without; the places are ones I visit every day and the organizations are some that deeply change lives.
I'll be sharing most of this campaign on Instagram so be sure to follow along and use #ShareGreatness to learn about the things that make my New York City so great.
Before I start sharing more on Instagram, I wanted to share (with you guys!) one of the amazing organizations that is near and dear to my heart: The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). Down syndrome advocacy has always been something I have championed since I first wrote a paper on it in middle school and have continued to care about into my late 20s.
Down syndrome affects people of all ages, races and economic level and there are currently 400,000 people living with Down syndrome in the United States. Andrew's niece being one of them. A couple of years ago Gigi was welcomed into Andrew's family and into our hearts. Since then we have only become bigger advocates for her, and those like her and their rights.
Just recently we participated in the Buddy Walk® here in New York City where we spent the day surrounded by family and friends in Central Park. Seeing everyone together and positively working for the same goal was heartwarming and only increased my drive to give back more.
If you've never been, the Buddy Walk® is a day of fun and a lot of love -- you can see if there is a walk in your area and be sure to check out what else you can do to help and give back to those in the community with the help of the NDSS here!
