Reading: I just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and LOVED it. Now I'm about to start reading The Silent Girls and I'm really excited!

NYC Life: Not much on the home front this week because I've been staying late at work gearing up for the postseason! I did (if this is exciting or not) get my nails done at the best place in the city for SNS/Dip nails: Eva Nails. It's on 49th and 1st and they do the BEST job on dip. Plus they have all the colors you could ever want. It's my favorite place!

Weekend Plans: Andrew and I are off to Atlanta to celebrate my niece's 2nd birthday! We'll be spending time with my parents and my sister and her husband. We also have it on the books to see John Mulaney on his new tour Saturday night!!

Most Popular Item This Week: This plaid mini skirt (perfect for fall)

Favorite Finds:
A fringe sweater!!
The perfect fall scarf
This wool plaid mini skirt is to DIE for!

The same top I'm wearing above but in white
Quilted vest for fall
Riding boots that look like a million bucks
Loafers that are IDENTICAL to Gucci for a fraction of the price
And two new dresses for work! ONE / TWO

Want to welcome Winnie the Doodle to the blog today! She was a great sport and wonderful companion on our apple picking expedition and these photos wouldn't be as cute without her!

LL Bean: Cashmere Sweater c/o / Kate Spade: Ruffle Neck Poplin Shirt / ASOS: Plaid Skirt / Barbour: Beadnell Jacket / LL Bean: Bean Boots c/o / Ray-Ban:  Wayfarer Sunglasses / BabubleBar: Mini Monogram Necklace David Yurman: Pearl Earrings David Yurman: Cable Classics Band Ring BaubleBar: Signet Ring

Going apple picking is like the first "must do" on my list for fall -- even when the weather isn't cooperating! You'd never know it by looking at these photos but we were hot as hell in this outfit. When I was visiting Caitlin this past weekend, we drove up to some apple farms to pick some apples and take some photos. And boyyyyy was it much hotter than it was in New York.

But of course the photos turned out great and looking back we did have a fun day -- one we'll never forget!

I just couldn't help but break out some of the new things in my fall wardrobe that I've been dying to wear recently. Like this skirt (which is only $64) -- my love for fall (aka plaid) skirts continues and I have no regrets! It was also the first time I was able to wear this cashmere sweater from LL Bean (wearing a size small) and it might be one of my favorite sweaters I own.

I don't know why but I'm always on the hunt for a nicely made and well worn cable knit sweater. They are just needed for fall and winter. I especially love to layer them and even more so when I'm able to layer a frilly shirt underneath

And last but definitely not least are my bean boots!!! Just checked and they are fully in stock so be sure to order them before the weather turns bad and there is a 3 month wait time. And for those still reading and interested in bean boots for fall just take a peak at THIS pair. Black watch plaid lined insides!!! AH how cute are they?!

Who's ready to read some thrillers? September seemed to be the month of only thrillers! Good thing is that they are popular so I had plenty to choose from. See my reviews below:

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

Summary: The story is based around this couple who goes next door for a dinner party to come home and realize their baby is gone. It follows along throughout the book trying to solve the mystery of who took their daughter and why -- questioning everyone and every thing.

Why I Liked It: I liked it mainly because it kept me guessing. It painted every character in a bad light so you didn't know who to trust and you we're sure if you had a reliable narrator or not. The best was the surprise AFTER you find out who did it. The last page was like WOAH.

Would I Recommend It: Yes

The Vanishing Year by Kate Moretti
Summary: The Vanishing Year (idk why it's called that) is about this New York social elite couple who has it all. Mainly focused on the wife, Zoe, who has some what of a troubled past and up until this point has been known as three different people. But as they say the past always has a way of finding you and in this book there are a ton of twists and turns to get her back.

Why I Liked It: It took about 2/3 of the book to actually get to the story and what is going on but once it got going it was pretty good. I will admit that I did figure it out before the book ended but it was still good to see how it played out. It wasn't as intense as the book below but still pretty good. I just wish it moved along quicker!

Would I Recommend It: Yes?

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
Summary: Behind Closed Doors is about this "perfect" couple who -- to the outside world -- are perfect. They are madly in love, always side by side and somewhat obsessed with each other. But behind the high wall and metal shutters is a different story. Maybe the man you married isn't the man you thought you knew. And now you're up for the challenge of a lifetime: how to escape.

Why I Liked It: Omg I've never had such an emotional reaction to a book before. I literally could not put it down and was just begging to go to the next page. It wasn't even that gruesome but it was so suspenseful. I really really loved this book. It's a must read (but just know you've been warned)!

Would I Recommend It: OMG YES

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
Summary: The Lying Game is about four girls from boarding school and their inseparable bond -- no matter what. As the story progresses and jumps back and forth from present to past, you find the source of their biggest lie and why they all come running when a bone washes up on the shore.

Why I Didn't Like It: So we actually picked this book for our recent book club since Ruth had such a great reputation but it ended up we all hated the book. It had so many little stories within the story that didn't pan out. And the mystery didn't even really make that much sense. There are just too many holes in the story and I found all the characters so unlikeable. Overall just did not like this book.

Would I Recommend It: No

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
Summary: Luckiest Girl Alive is the story of a girl who has it all on the outside but inside is a mess. You learn there was drama as a teenager growing up but never truly get the full story until someone approaches her and tries to dig deep. But reliving it and telling the full story could do more harm than good for her. So she has a choice: relive the worst moment of your life or pretend like it never happened.

Why I Liked It: I liked it because it told a story I hadn't read before. For a lot of books I feel like they are the same over and over again with a different twist but this one was truly something else. Sure it was about a perfect girl not trying to relive her past but when you find out WHY she doesnt want to relive it, it's crazy. It kept me turning the page begging to know more.

Would I Recommend It: Yes

Sorry I've been so behind on the book reviews. I actually read a ton more between February and now but I just wanted to round up my favorite thrillers from the past couple months and share them now so this post doesn't get so long. Will be making sure I do these monthly again!

It's officially fall guys!! Except its still SO hot. So if the weather could get with the times that would be best for me!

J. Crew: Regent Blazer (also HERE) / Kate Spade: Ruffle Neck Poplin Shirt / Leith: Plaid Wrap Skirt / Sam Edelman: Camellia Tall Boot / Celine: Nano Luggage BabubleBar: Mini Monogram Necklace David Yurman: Pearl Earrings David Yurman: Cable Classics Band Ring BaubleBar: Signet Ring

There is little I love more than a good skirt come fall. I hope you all are ready because I have a lot more where this came from! I don't know why but I really just love to integrate them into my fall looks. Maybe because they're the best for the in between weather? Or maybe it's because they compliment tall boots the best. Either way, I'm a big fan.

There have been so many cute skirts out there too! I'm really waiting for fall clothes to hit stores but if you search hard enough you can find them. Finding a cute fall skirt is a lot like finding a tree that is changing colors early: you have to really look around but they are there.

(You can see some old fall skirt inspiration HERE / HERE / HERE and HERE)

What I also love about this look is that is another fun work look! Really any time you add a blazer to an outfit I feel like it's ready for the office. And this is my favorite of all the blazers out there too!

Now for tomorrow do you guys want to see a book review or a day apple picking (with another cute skirt) with a cute pup?! Let me know below!!

We're about a week and a half away from postseason at work and it has been the most busy week to date. I've been all over the place and I feel like the blog took a hit (and again today). Sorry about that. Today's going to be short because I am SO exhausted and already running late.

I love Ted Baker (duh) and I got this dress because of the colors and the collar but I DIDN'T realize it was knit. Now I'm alllllll about it. I love this dress. Everything about it. Love how different and comfortable it is first and foremost. It's a splurge but it's worth it!
