Say hello to my new favorite sweater! (*in unison* Hi, new favorite sweater!)

I finally pulled the trigger on this sweater while shopping in Nantucket but I've had my eye on it for a couple of years now. I said it wouldn't be worth the price or I wouldn't wear it enough, but it's been about three weeks and I've already worn it several times.

I had two internal debates when shopping: Cream or navy? Small or medium?

I have SO many navy sweaters I could make my own clothing line, but I also wear every single one of them. I love navy sweaters and I love everything they go with when wearing them. So did I want something I was guaranteed to wear or something that I hadn't truly owned before?

The associate in the store and Andrew helped me make the final decision to go with the cream and I'm really happy with my purchase. It goes with any bottom I pair it with and I'm really happy to have something different in my closet.

For the sizing, I went with the small. Mainly because that's the only size they had in store in the cream but also because when I tried on the medium in the navy, there wasn't that big of a difference in size. The arms were a little longer on the medium but in the chest and shoulder area, they were about the same. So I hesitantly grabbed the small and haven't seen any problems with it as of yet!

So if you're feeling extra patriotic or preppy or just like what I'm wearing and want the same thing, you can snag one for yourself in cream HERE or in navy HERE.
Short but oh so sweet! Always fun to see my sister and of course to meet CHANCE THE RAPPER!! See more below:

If anyone at home is keeping track, I haven't cut my hair since early December. That means no scissors have come near it in nearly 6 months and these photos were taken this past weekend. Not too shabby, right? My hair is as healthy as ever and I wanted to share my haircare process with you guys so hopefully you can master the same results!

My hair follicles are thin and oily, but I have SO much hair. With thinner hair, comes more oil and it's something I've learned to deal with and is why dry shampoo has been my life saver.

My hair gets oily after one day, meaning that the night after washing it, the crown of my head and the sides near my ears are unacceptably oily. BUT the way to combat oil is to not wash it as much. So while I have really oily hair, I only wash my hair 2-3x a week. In between, I dry shampoo it up, and put it in a pony tail or bun if necessary! You can see my dry shampoo routine HERE and my pony tail routine HERE.

What I wanted to do below is take you through all the steps of my current routine from shower to post washing hair and everything in between!

In the Shower:
1. Shampoo: I started using this shampoo around this time last year due to a sponsored campaign and ended up LOVING it. I've tried other products since but none compare to this. Finding a shampoo I actually really love is like finding a needle in the haystack. My go-to joke was how I'll never be able to commit to anything if I can't commit to a shampoo for more than a month.

But now it's been close to a year and they don't sell it in store anymore (thank you Amazon!) and I have stocked up. Don't know how I'll ever use anything else!

2. Hair mask (once every other week): I never really used conditioner in the past because of how oily my hair is, but I found that this is a 10x better option anyway! I use this mask on my hair in the shower abut once every other week and only put it on the ends (any part that a low pony tail and down would hold) and avoid getting it on my scalp.

My hair has NEVER been softer after using and it will literally transform your hair within 6 minutes. I always want to use it more because I love how soft it makes my hair but I don't want to over use it so I'm in a constant struggle!

When Hair is wet:
1. Spray with Leave in Product: Out of the shower I towel dry it and spray this leave in treatment. Just like the mask above from the same brand, it really does help transform and protect my hair when I style it. It also helps with tangles which is huge for me so I'm not ripping out my hair!

2. Brush: I got this brush as part of a mailer a couple months ago and I absolutely love it. It's so great for wet hair and won't damage or rip anything out like other brushes do! I wasn't into they hype of a wet brush before I tried it and now I can't go back to any other way!

3. Oil: Argan oil had been a huge game changer in terms of damage protection and nourishment for my hair. I pump two pumps into my hands, move it around and then flip my hair over and really work the oil into the lower parts of my hair (once again avoiding my scalp because we're oily up there). Not only does it smell amazing but it helps bring my hair back to life and protect it.

4. Blowdryer: Before you say anything I know it's crazy expensive for a hairdryer. BUT it has been the BEST hairdryer I have ever used in my entire 26 years on this earth and the price is 100% worth it. It's crazy powerful and my hair is dry within a matter of minutes. My theory is the less time you spend blowdrying your hair, the less heat and damage will come from it. So why not get a really good and fast drying one and be done with it? Not to mention it's SUPER lightweight.

5. Curling Wand: I curl my hair on average about once a week because I think if you do it every day, you will damage it. Sometimes you have to let your hair breathe a little and give it that natural life it wants to live! When I do curl it I always make sure to use this wand. Even at it's highest setting, it won't ruin or burn your hair. You know it's a good wand when your hair looks healthier after you use it!

To Extend Clean Hair:
Dry Shampoo: I love and swear by this dry shampoo till the day I die! You can see a full review of other ones HERE but this will always be my holy grail!

You can see my last hair cut and meet my favorite stylist HERE in this video! Brandon, I'm not cheating on you I just haven't gotten my hair cut!!
P.S. I think it might help to note that I've never colored or treated my hair!

Excited to be bringing you a semi-condensed travel guide to Nantucket. I wanted to try and make this a little more fun and to the point than normal travel guides by sharing my absolute MUST dos on the island. In the summer or on quick weekend vacations, you have to make the most of your time and I hope this will help!!

1. Cisco Brewery (see past blog post HERE) - This is by far my favorite place on the island to spend a day. They welcome everyone (even kids and pets) but it's best for anyone who likes to eat, drink and listen to music. It was even the place I had my first ever lobster roll! Aside from the fun atmosphere, there is some really great food vendors like the Lobster Trap, Millies and 167 Raw Bar. I always get the lobster roll and fries from the Lobster Trap and a dozen oysters from the raw bar!

As for drinks, there are three different houses on site that serve beer (Cisco Brewers), wine (Nantucket Vineyard) and mixed drinks (Triple Eight Distillery). Andrew loves the beer and my go-to is the Bloody Mary. It's seriously the best I've ever had! I even bought their mix to take home with me!

Getting there from town is really easy. You can drive, bike or shuttle (for free)!

2. The Juice Bar - Don't let the name fool you, this is the best ice cream shop in the whole wide world. They have homemade ice cream and to-die-for waffle cones. This is coming from a girl who doesn't even really like ice cream that much! Andrew (who is the opposite of me in terms of liking ice cream) says it's his favorite place he's ever been to (and that is really saying something)!

3. Cisco Beach - There are a lot of beaches in Nantucket (duh) but this is far and away our favorite place on the island. Every time we go -- no matter the weather -- Cisco beach always seems to welcome us. It's known for its waves and surfing, but we enjoy it the best because it's far enough from town where it's not too crowded but close enough to bike there in 25 minutes!

4. Fog Island Cafe - This is our favorite breakfast spot. We've been here every single morning we've visited the island. It's fast, delicious and cheap! It doesn't try and dazzle you or be something it's not. It's a total locally owned, town-loved breakfast spot. I always get the Eggs Benedict (I'm a creature of habit) and my plate is always licked clean!

5. Go Sailing - We did this our first year and are looking to do it again next time we go back. Captain Jim takes you around Nantucket sound on his beautiful sailboat for an hour and a half and it's one of the best ways to see the island. It's great for large groups or even just a couple's trip. Highly recommend!!

6. Visit the Lighthouses - Nantucket is known for all the lighthouses. There are three that are so unique in their own right: Brant Point, Sankaty Head and Great Point lighthouse. Brant Point is the first thing you see when you take the ferry onto the island. It's the main one you see depicted on Nantucket items and it's easy to walk to from town. The beach is rocky but it's really fun to sit and relax and watch the boats go by.

Sankaty doesn't have much around it (other than a golf course and the water) but it has one of the best views overlooking the ocean. We've only been once on a rainy and super windy day, but I'm hoping to go back and visit again under different conditions!

Great Point is a trek to get to but totally worth it. You need a car with a beach permit and to pay a toll to get onto the beach where you drive for a few miles and then walk to the lighthouse. Going there really feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, but it's such a cool experience and has some amazing sunsets! Try and make a day of it!

7. Stay at 21 Broad/76 Main - Andrew and I have had our share of hotels/boats/places to stay on the island but our favorite by far has been at the Lark properties in Nantucket. Our first hotel was 21 Broad and it -- to this day -- might be one of our favorite hotels we've stayed at in all of our travels. Both hotels are so beautifully decorated, super friendly and have some of the best breakfast snacks and cookies around! They provide everything you would ever need, aren't going to cost you an arm and a leg to stay there and are totally brand new and welcoming!

I'll have a review of 76 Main later this week!

8. Rent a Bike (or Car) - Renting some sort of transportation is almost necessary if you're visiting the island just in case you want to get out of downtown and explore. For most of our visits we rented a Jeep so we could drive on the beach. BUT renting a car can get really expensive and it can be hard to find places to park overnight. On the other hand, it's so nice to be able to really get around the island without worry and it's great for rainy days!

During our first, and again on our most recent trip, we stuck to bikes and it was perfect. We went to Cisco when we needed, had places to store them overnight and got the extra shockproof seats so we could try and manage riding the cobblestone streets better. Thankfully there are enough things to do downtown that you don't have to leave. But to really get a sense of the island, I suggest renting some sort of transportation!

9. Club Car - This recently just reopened for our last trip so we grabbed dinner one night and drinks the next but I absolutely fell in love with the place! The food was great, the decor was RIGHT up my alley (#goals) and the bar was so picturesque I could die. Definitely a new adventure but always a place we will go back and visit!

10. Shopping - I put this one last because you can technically shop anywhere you travel, but I really love the shops Nantucket has to offer. Many are locally owned boutiques specializing in something you never knew you needed. There are also a fair amount of well known stores so you can feel right at home. Each year I love to just stroll in and out and search for one-of-a-kind items to take home with me!

-----

And that is my top 10! Of course there are so many other amazing things to do and places to eat (oh boy are there good places to eat!!) but these are my "must-do" if you're visiting Nantucket.

P.S. These can be done in one weekend!

Of course there is still so much we have yet to do. I feel like each passing year something else makes us go, "Why didn't we eat here?" or "Just heard of this place, let's go next time." So each new year is a different adventure for us!

Even my friend Louise and I were texting last night and she's like "Oh, you have to include Gazebo for their Mudslide" and I said, "Ummm whatchu talkin bout!" She thought I was crazy for never having been there! So now I guess I need to go back this summer? ;)

Have you guys ever been? I'd also love to hear your recommendations below of new places or your favorite spots. Always down to try out more things!

Wanted to stop on in and give you guys a quick update of what's been going on over here. First through photos from IG (if you're not following along you can do so HERE!) and then through text. Hope you enjoy!

As connected as we are, I feel like there is a lot I don't share on here. Isn't it crazy to think that you can talk to someone every day and still not truly know much about them? Lately, I've been struggling between being more transparent for the sake of growing the blog or keeping things private so I can still have something that is my own (and isn't broadcasted on the internet).

But there is nothing more soothing and calming than a good vent session so I guess here goes nothing....

Friendships:
I've been really focusing on building better relationships with those around me. A lot of times I would forego an outing with friends because I needed to edit a video or get a blog post up but recently I've been picking real life over blog life and making myself realize that going out with my girlfriends is going to be more fulfilling than making sure I have a blog to post. In recent years, I've even stopped drinking or going out because I couldn't have a hangover the next day due to a shoot. I felt like I was stifling my real life because of pressure I was putting on myself.

Then I realized that if I don't post on a random Tuesday no one will care. Its not like you guys will get mad at me or stop coming back to my blog because of it. Half the people probably didn't even realize I was gone for one day a few weeks ago. Understanding that took a lot of pressure off and allowed me to live a little more.

Relationships:
Everyone around me is getting married. I've always joked with people that once a friend gets married it's contagious because then you get the itch. And it's really true for a lot of people! I've never been that kind of girl but this year has really made me question that. Why is the world pressuring me to get married? Maybe I'll talk about it more in another post but I feel like everything is nagging me to settle down. Anyone else feel this way?

In other "next step" moves, I will have a roommate come August and we're really excited. The plan was to get a bigger apartment so we can both live in it together but I can't believe it's happening! I'm nervous but really excited. I mean I haven't had a roommate in seven (maybe?) years! Any advice is welcome :)

Work:
There are a lot of really big changes going on at work currently within our department and while it's exciting to see what opportunities may arise, it's also a big waiting game. Waiting to see where I'll land, who will manage me, what I'll be doing, where I'll be going, where my friends are going... things like that. You hear one thing one day and a different thing the next and it can be taxing on everyone involved. Not to mention things are happening just weeks out from ASG which is our busiest time of year!

I've said it before but I'm so lucky to work where I do because I truly love my job. It keeps me motivated and excited to come in every day and I realize how rare that is. But even being in love with what I do, I can still feel overwhelmed. I've taken on a lot and being the only person in my role can take its toll. My position and what I oversee continues to grow each year which is awesome but it's possible now that workflow has grown to more than a one-person job.

So we'll see where this all lands. Rumors are flying around and if they hold to be true, this reorganization could work well for my role and my future. But there is still a lot to figure out and we'll just have to take it day by day!

The Blog:
Going off of the above, I feel like I'm in a constant push and pull for finding a blog/life balance. I want to be more connected to you all and I want the blog to grow but I also want to be more present in my daily life and spend genuine time with those I love. But it's nearly impossible to do both. Perfect example is why I don't IG Story/Snapchat that much. I'm trying to live in the moment and that moment doesn't involve my phone.

I talked a little about this in my recent video but think about someone who you follow who is on IG stories all day long. They are taking you through every part of their day, talking to the phone for a majority of it, sharing snaps of what they're eating, their conversations with friends, etc. Now think about the other side of the camera. Think about being around them in real life and how they are only paying attention to their phone. I have friends like this and our friendship seems so fun on their stories but in real life it's different. It's mainly them on their phone, not being present and me sitting over to the side keeping myself occupied. I feel like people forget that side of things since they only see our lives through a phone or computer. They get the good parts of our day when everyone else is getting the bad.

I want to be in the present and live and enjoy and build relationships with those around me. Am I still on my phone? Yes, but I am conscious of it and always try to put it away when I can. But because of this I feel like I'm falling behind with blogging. Not that there is a measure of success, but in general I feel like I'm behind the pack. It's really difficult to explain but maybe this will also be a longer post for another day.

Extracurricular Activites:
I am writing a book. As if I didn't have enough full time jobs on my plate, I decided I really wanted to tack this on. I love writing and it's always been a rather large goal of mine but I always struggled with what exactly I would write about. I actually thought of an idea for a book about two years ago and the plan was if Andrew and I were to breakup the book would start that day (it would be about dating in the modern age -- a subject no one has ever written about). But since I don't see that happening the idea kind of fell by the wayside.

Then I realized that I could write a fiction book and use personal anecdotes from my past life and apply them to the idea. So I am writing a book about a girl living in NYC who just got out of a longterm relationship and has been out of the game for so long she has no idea how to use online or app dating. She thinks since she lives in the most popular city in the world, you should be able to go up to a guy and just say hello. And so the story follows her dating life (meeting a guy in person, the relationship and the possible downfall of it) with each chapter being a different guy and an overarching theme or lesson learned from that relationship. There are of course some more twists and turns but what kind of author would I be if I told you everything!

NYC Life:
I feel like the biggest recent thing that has been going on in my life is that I've decided I want to buy a place in the city. I think we're all pretty aware that this is no easy (or cheap) feat but I'm really going to buckle down on saving more, become strategic and get all my ducks in order to buy a place in the coming year/year and a half. Which is TOTALLY scary but it really excites me. I'm starting to talk and meet with different people in the area who can advise me on next steps so if you know of a great realtor or real estate attorney in NYC please let me know! I'll have to do a longer post on why I want to buy and my pros and cons to doing so (if you all are interested).

Home Life:
I'm just going to come out and say it: I'm a messy person. If you can't tell by my weekend updates, 90% always mention cleaning my apartment. It's because I'm a mess. I come home and throw things on the floor and walk away. I feel like as a blogger or a person online you have to put on the persona of someone clean and tidy, and maybe I've done a good job at that, but I'll be the first to admit that is not the case.

I'm not dirty but just really messy. I have a lot of stuff and I live in a small place. I blame my messiness on being so utterly busy that when I come home it's literally throw off my shoes and sit on my couch and work on the blog until it's time for bed. So what I've been trying to do (but have been putting it off) is to clean OUT my apartment. I want less stuff around and I want it all out. I want to be clean and I want everything to have a home so when I come home I can put it away.

I also want to do this because it's really stressful to have a messy apartment. You feel even more crammed in here than you would elsewhere because here you have no where to go. I feel surrounded and claustrophobic with mess and it gets so overwhelming that I just ignore it, which is obviously the worst thing to do. (Update: I deep cleaned my apartment yesterday and it's a huge weight off my shoulders!!)

Wellness:
I feel like there are three things I'm trying to focus on that fall under "wellness": working out, eating better and sleeping more. About a month or two ago I realized I was staying up till 1am every night working on the blog or just watching TV and then being so exhausted in the morning and sleeping until the very last minute I had to get up and get to work. One day I decided I didn't like the routine I was in and with that I wanted to make sure I was getting a full eight hours every night. So I set my bedtime for 11pm with a wakeup call at 7am.

With that I found I had so much extra time every morning and so I started to work out from 7-8am, blog from 8-9 and then head off to work. And I did it for a month or two and I was feeling great. But then I started to travel and life started to get in the way of my bedtime and working out and then I just kind of fell off the wagon. I still go to bed around 11pm every night but the 7am wakeup call has turned into a snooze until 8-830 alarm and then I just feel exhausted and hop off straight to work. So my plan is to get back on track soon and hold myself more accountable. And once I get that part of my daily routine back, I feel like eating better will go with it.

------

I think that about covers it, right? I'd love to talk to you all more in the comments below if you have anything you're struggling with, want to vent about, have to say about what I'm venting about, just to say hi or to give support! Plus if you guys even like things like this, let me know!
