10 Things About Krista Robertson

I thought today would be all about getting to know me better. With a lot of new followers and readers, it's important to me to keep it real with you guys, keep you entertained and to make sure you know a little about me (and what makes me tick). So I've compiled a list of the top 10 things I can think of that make me, me (without getting too in depth). So I hope you enjoy!

1. I work for Major League Baseball
I feel like some of you know this, but I wanted to say it for those who don't (I mean, that's the point of this whole post, right?). I graduated college in May 2013 and moved to New York in June for this job. I work in our social media department and I love it. I know I always have a ton of you asking more about my work and how I got into the company so feel free to reach out and ask more. I'm always down to help. You can also learn a little more about the whole process here.

2. My ideal day is one spent with lots of movies
I. love. movies. I watch as many as I possibly can. There was a whole week last month where I just came home and watched an Oscar movie a night. You gotta do what you gotta do, am I right? I just love how they take you away to another place. Some of my favorite movies include Forrest Gump, Field of Dreams and Shawshank Redemption. Recent favorites have been Interstellar, Whiplash and Horrible Bosses 2.

3. I rarely ever wear makeup
I stopped wearing makeup everyday about a year and a half ago. Not quite sure what prompted it but it was probably something in between the lines of me being confident with myself and me being lazy. Either way, we're coming up on two years. There are a ton of days when I'll just wear lipstick or maybe some random days when I'll put on mascara, but for the most part I stay all natural. The only exceptions are when I 1. take blog photos 2. film videos and 3. when I go out. Over the past year and a half I've really noticed my skin clear up. I used to struggle with acne here and there on my chin and forehead but now I pretty much am all clear.

4. I have a one-eyed cat
If you follow me on snapchat (kristalinn14) you already know this! She was a rescue that I got in when I was still in college. The short version of the story is that she was born in an attic of a retirement home and was attacked when she was a few days old. People heard the commotion and went up to clear it up. Dixie was one of the only survivors from the fight but her eye had been clawed out. So the people who found her brought her to the vet clinic where my friend worked and were about to euthanize her when my friend said she would find a good home for her. Next thing I knew I got a call, met a cat and fell in love. She's named Dixie after the Dixie Chicks. They were playing the first time she fell asleep in my arms!

5. I went to the University of Kentucky
I'm sure this is a lot more obvious now that the tournament has started, but I went to UK! I was there from 2009-2013 and was an Alpha Phi. I majored in Business Communications and my favorite memory of my four years was the 2012 National Championship. Nothing brings me more pride than knowing I was a part of that magical year! I loved everything about UK and I can say with 100% certainty it was the best four years of my life. You can read my "Letter to UK" here that talks more about my time in school.

6. I love chips
They are my guilty pleasure! You know how people always say they could never live without candy/chocolate? Well I'm the type of girl who can't live without meat (read below) and carbs. For as long as I remember, I've loved eating chips. All kinds (I don't discriminate) all the time. I know I should probably cut back and maybe one day I will but I'm all about the 'be happy now, work out later.'

7. My ideal meal has red meat in it
Like mentioned above, I love red meat. I'm not even sure I could be a vegetarian for a day to be honest. Maybe it's because I was raised in Texas or maybe it's because I'm just your all-American girl, but I. love. red. meat. And if we're really getting technical, I love all meat like chicken, duck and pork, but I'm just saying that when I go to a restaurant the thing I'll probably order is a nice rare steak.

8. I cry (almost) everyday
Now this one might sound weird, but it's not! When I say 'cry' I mean I have my emotions moved to tears. I could be watching a great movie, a touching show, I could see a emotional ad, anything like that. And it's not like a sobbing type of cry (although they do some around a lot during movies) it's more of a couple of tears cry. I have absolutely zero shame in crying and I honestly think the whole thing gets a bad rap. I love to cry and I openly talk about it because it's nothing to be ashamed of. Knowing your emotions and having a firm grasp on what makes you you is a powerful thing. Have you ever watched Jimmy Valvano's ESPY's speech? (Possibly one of the greatest all time speeches) He says,

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special."

Ironically the speech made me cry but it also made me think. Hey, that's the perfect way to put it. Don't mind me, I'm just living every day to the fullest.

9. I'm painfully sarcastic
Oh how I wish sarcasm came off through text. Not that it would totally help my case all the time but it would be a good place to start! I pride myself on my humor and those who know me can back me up when I say I'm pretty dry. There are times when I'll make a sarcastic comment (to those who know me well) and they'll still question me. I think it's what makes life so funny and I don't see myself changing any time soon. I feel like here on the blog I have a certain voice and I try to best convey that here so maybe it comes off? Idk. You all probably just think I'm super weird (which I am, so idk where I'm going with this...).

10. I've lived in five states
The first question I get from people I just meet is the age old ice breaker of, "Where are you from?" Welllll idk. You tell me! Living in five different states has been amazing but the whole where are you from question means different things to different people. Where were you born? California. Where did you spend most of your life? Dallas. Where did you live before college/where do your parents live? Chicago. Where did you spend the last four years of your life/where were you before here (NY)? Kentucky. Where are you from (when you go out of state)? New York. Like idk what to say people! I have a couple one liners of "Where do you want me to be from?" "America" "I don't know" "If you find the answer to that question will you let me know?" "How long do you have?"

I think I summed it up well when I said: I'm a California girl raised in Texas who went to high school in Chicago, college in Kentucky, and currently lives in New York City.
