Travel Tuesday: Nantucket
Tuesday, July 22, 2014Earlier this month, as many of you remember, Andrew and I went to Nantucket (and other places, but we'll get to that later). Today, I wanted to create a little guide from our time on the island. We're already yearning to go back!
RELAX: We originally planned on heading to Nantucket on the 4th, but Hurricane Arthur got in the way so we postponed the trip to the next day. Good thing we did because we couldn't have asked for better weather! Our first (and main) stop was on the beach. I had read amazing reviews about Cisco Beach and it wasn't too far away on our bikes (about a 30 minute ride). We were on the island really early in the morning which meant we had the beach to ourselves. It was easily one of the best beaches I have ever seen.
EXPLORE: After the beach we went to Cisco Brewery. This place was off a dirt road, but we found it to be a big party spot! There I had my first (but definitely not last) lobster roll. It was from a food truck but it was the best lobster roll I've ever had. I devoured it in less than a minute.
After the brewery, we strolled around town and stopped to take photos, eat some ice cream, shop and wait for our boat ride.
PLAY: Next was our sailboat ride around Nantucket. This was probably the coolest thing we did on the trip and one of my favorite adventures. I found Endeavor Sailing while researching fun things to do on the island. I highly recommend it! The Captain was so nice, the water was beautiful and it was relatively inexpensive for how cool the ride was.
EAT: For dinner, we stayed near the boat basin and ate at Cru. I'm really getting more into seafood and this place was the place for me! The decor was so nautical I never wanted to leave and the food was ah-mazinggggg. I highly recommend it if you're ever in the area! It was so nice to have dinner on the water too!
DESSERT: To finish our trip, we waited in line for 45 minutes to get ice cream from The Juice Bar and it was totally worth the wait. I was still full from dinner so I only got a kid-size cake batter cone, but I really wish I forced myself to eat more. It was the best ice cream I've ever had!
And that concludes our trip to Nantucket. I hope you enjoyed the recap because I enjoyed the trip! Thanks to all for the great recommendations, too. It was so helpful. Until next time.
