Road Trip:
A series of road or away games.

Remember when I told you that I would recap my trip to Hilton Head? Yeah, that trip back in March. Whoops, I totally just realized that I forgot to post about it. So forgive me. Plus this is a fun way to reminisce the fun beach vacation.

This trip was very last minute. Like Friday-afternoon-booking-a-Saturday-morning-flight last minute. This was in the middle of the miserable winter we were having. Tracy and I decided to get away and go to the beach. We wouldn't have pulled the trigger if it weren't for the cheap, cheap deals we got. Our flight to Savannah, Georgia was less than $200 round-trip. We picked up a car and drove an hour to Hilton Head, South Carolina where we stayed at Sonesta Resort. We got two nights at this amazing place for only $138. Yes, $138 for two nights at a beachfront resort. Hard life, right? Everything was just too good -- we had to say yes. So we did. Flew out of NYC at 6 a.m. (eek) and were on the beach by noon.

Here was my travel outfit:

Our first stop was the hotel restaurant (it was amazing) which had one of the best bloody marys. I think I need to go back.

After a few drinks, we explored the resort and made our way to the beach.

It was a little chilly that day (and by chilly I mean in the 60's-- too chilly to lay out). So we rented some bikes and went up along the shore.

Side note: taking a bike selfie is a difficult task.

We were having so much fun that we decided to bike all the way to one of my favorite spots on the island, The Salty Dog. Now, for those of you who don't know the island, that's a little bit of a hike on a bike. We were dumb and didn't take the bike baths but the beach. Going down was fine because we were going with the wind. Going back, not so much. We were exhausted. Take a look at the map of both spots:

Why not work out on vacation? The view and place were worth it:

That night we went for dinner to The Smokehouse, which I highly recommend! We went there off of a recommendation as well from a lovely old man on the beach. The place was great-- and cheap! Couldn't have asked for a better dinner after such a long day.

The second day was beach day. The weather was great and it was time to get my sunburn tan on. Broke out the jacks and jean shorts and fried on the beach with Tracy.

That night we went to the Lighthouse and met up with our friend Michelle, her husband and friends for dinner at The Crazy Crab. We were able to catch the sunset and enjoy our last night on the island.

We left the next morning and stopped by the outlets and Chic-Fil-a on our way out of town. It was just what the doctor ordered and I'm so happy we decided to go on this trip! Here are some of my outfits I wore over the weekend:

So there you have it! Sorry for the late late post, but I hope you enjoyed it.

Sinker:
A pitch that looks like a fastball but drops hard out of the strike zone at the last moment.

What drops faster: a sinker or an anchor?

So … awkward moment. Let's travel all the way back to yesterday. I talked about my love for this J. Crew Fluted skirt in Double Crepe and how I hadn't worn my navy blue skirt on the blog. Whattt?! I wear this dang skirt all the time. I was surprised that I haven't shown it off yet!

The intention was to just wear it to work because I wanted to break out my favorite J. Crew Anchor shirt. Well, Andrew and I had time before work to walk The High Line and snap a few pictures.

I was also able to break in my new Joie heels. Thank you Katie for opening my eyes to them and thank you Memorial Day for having such an amazing sale!

Enjoy! Buy the skirt. You'll thank me in 3-5 business days.

If you've been following along, you know that I have a serious love (some might call it an obsession) with the J. Crew Fluted skirt in Double Crepe. I wore my first one here in Napa. Since then, the skirt has popped up in white twice (oh, and maybe a third time), green, blue, and pink (same as below). Not yet pictured is the black and navy blue. The pale citrus did show up on Instagram, but has yet to transition over here. I also may have the two new colors on the way. Whoops. What can I say? I really love these skirts. I'm not just trying to push them on you, I really feel this way. They fit my figure so well I really can't say no. They're great for work, going out, or even a little dressed down. Plus they're ON SALE right now. On sale + an extra 30% off with the code "SWEET." You're welcome. Buy them now.

Anyway, about this outfit. I wear these skirts to work all the time -- like the outfit below. I love to color block them, and my Calvin Klein shoes inspired this look. It showed me that pink and red can go so well together. The skirt is more on the pink side and the jacket is red. I love the way it turned out and I thought the two pieces complimented each other quite well. This outfit will be in a solid rotation.

Short Season:
Class-A minor league baseball where seasons are only 75 games long (compared to the normal 140 for minor league teams).

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that summer is officially here. It's crazy to think we survived the brutal winter and crazier to think that it's actually over (fingers crossed). I even transitioned my closet -- that's how you know it's real. This is the first time in my life that I've actually had to "transition" my closet (I've been blessed with big closets so I have enough room to go around). It was a weird experience, but thankfully I have these awesome drawers under my bed to stuff fit it all. One thing I was really happy to break out were all my shorts! Especially those denim suckers that have been begging for a New York spin. I wore those shorts so much last summer that I bought myself a white pair. Believe me when I say I will be wearing these five days a week. They are so comfortable and the perfect summer short. It's like white jeans for really hot days. Along with these shorts, I also picked up this awesome striped shirt from the factory too. It makes the perfect summer outfit. Don't you agree? I wore this look over the weekend and it was perfect for everything we did. This won't be the last time you see this look, friends!

Also wanted to show off my fun summer time nails!

Thanks to Andrew for taking the photos (as always) and being my light tester :)

Road Trip:
A series of road or away games.

Hope everyone had a wonderful three-day weekend! For the holiday, Andrew and I met up with some friends in Windham, NY. If you're like me and you've never heard of it, it's located in upstate New York -- about two hours from the city in the Catskill Mountains. Our friend Kristen has a house up there and we decided it would be the perfect weekend getaway. Boy, was it amazing! Can I just say the weather this weekend was unreal?! I mean we couldn't have asked for better weather! Overall it was a great weekend with great friends and I was so sad to leave. Of course I'm sunburned on my chest, but if you don't get a little red your first time out, you're not really living (at least that's what I tell myself).

So I just wanted to share some photos from our time up there.

The water where the boys "fished" (there were no fish in the stream even though Andrew swears there were) and the girls laid out:

(The back) of Kristen's house + Andrew. Really amazing place!
Catskills, NY

The view from the deck (I was convinced the whole weekend we weren't actually in New York):

Kristen also had a large pond in the back too:

Then at night we would do this puzzle (crazy, I know), but we were in the middle of nowhere, 15 minutes from the main road and 20 from the small town with nothing else to do while the temperature dropped to the 50's every night. It was fun to hang around, drink some beers and do this puzzle (I'm a rock star at them #nbd). This was all we were able to accomplish. But mind you this is a 1000-piece puzzle and hard as f#@k to do. I was proud of all we got done in two days. Those rocks will haunt my dreams…

That about wraps it up! I hope you had just as amazing of a weekend as I did!
