As I mentioned in this blog post, I had a few dress options for the rehearsal dinner in Saint Lucia and ended up going with this maxi dress. I love it because it's actually something you can dress up or down depending on the occasion and is the most perfect summer dress out there.

This is prime time J. Crew and I know I will own this dress for years to come. It's one of those dresses I see myself wearing as a mom to summer cookouts just to show how fabulous I can be. I know it's such a weird thing to think about, but that's my life.

I know a lot of friends who got this dress and had it hemmed (it is VERY long) but I actually found the perfect shoes to wear with it (these) that as you can see from the above, made it the perfect length. For reference, I'm 5' 6" and wearing a size six. The dress also has pockets and adjustable straps in the back that you tie which help make the dress fit better!

It was perfect for the night as well as being a great repellent for bugs near my legs. I'm so happy I went with this dress (and pulled the trigger on it). It's just so perfect!!!

P.S. This is TOTALLY off topic but I'm about to Spring clean a few bigger ticket items and I thought I would offer it to loyal readers first (ones that actually read here). I'm selling:
Louis Vuitton Pegase 55 Luggage (cary on size) for $2,000 (cheaper if you live in NYC and can pick it up) - (retails for $3,550)

See video reviews for the Fendis HERE, dedicated mini Fendi HERE and the rolling luggage HERE. All are in great condition and 100% authentic.

If you're interested in buying email me at coveringbasesblog@gmail.com (SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY). I will list these this weekend on Instagram if not sold!

I may officially be back, but the photos from Saint Lucia are never going to end! Let's hop into it...

Topshop: Bardot Ruffle Minidress / J. Crew: Sequin Earrings (more colors HERE) / Hermes: Oran Sandals (dupe option HERE) / BaubleBar: Mini Monogram Necklace

I actually got this dress as a rehearsal dinner option for the wedding, but the dinner itself turned out to be pretty informal so I went with a gingham maxi (more on that later this week). But of course I still wanted to shoot it since this dress is stunning and is a hair over $100 so it won't break the bank.

It has a zipper in the back and I would categorize the dress as a fit-and-flare with pockets :) The sleeves are mostly there for decoration and to hurt my bruise (on my left arm -- you can see how swollen it is). The full story on that is currently up on my IG story for the next 12 hours so hurry if you want to see/know about it.

I tried wearing the dress without my arms in the straps but it just kind of looked weird. Sometimes you can get away with it on other dresses, but this is not the one.

What I really loved about this dress is its thickness. It's structured enough that it will stand up on its own and hold its shape. I also won't wrinkle. I found I didn't even need to steam this dress out of my suitcase (which is rare) so I count that as a win.

As for the earrings, I actually bought them to go with this outfit but totally forgot to wear them. I think this works though :) J. Crew has some of the BEST earrings right now!! They are really taking another look at their jewelry line and it's totally showing. All hail the statement earring.

Greetings from St. Lucia! I'm having such a wonderful time here. The wedding was last night and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever been a part of.

Trina Turk: Off the Shoulder Swimsuit (similar here, similar top here) / Party Skirt: Palm Print Skirt / Hat Attack: Navy Stripe hat by Lemon Stripe (similar here) / Jack Rogers: Sandal

Remember how I mentioned that I really love to wear swimsuits as tops in the summer and especially on vacation? Well here is more proof! It's so easy to keep your swimsuit on all day and take the skirt on and off when you need. Plus this skirt is a great material for a wet bottom!

If you remember our trip to Maui over New Years, then you'll remember this swimsuit. I loved the black so much that when I saw it in white I knew I had to have it. I love the way it looks with this palm print skirt (last styled here) -- cute and beachy!

I'm having the very best time in Saint Lucia. Please excuse the lack of posting (here and on social) but this place is just too magical to be wasting it on my phone. Excited to share more snaps from our trip in the coming weeks.

A true way to show you're on vacation time is when you're sporting the straight outta water (unbrushed) hair, no makeup and a swimsuit as a top. These are a few of my favorite things :)

J. Crew: Scoop Back Swimsuit / J. Crew: Berry Skirt / Tory Burch: Harper Pebbled Bag / Tory Burch: Maritime Sandals / Nordstrom: Pearl Earrings

Hello from St. Lucia! Today is our third day and this place is absolutely amazing. The weather has been perfect and it's so fun being with the family! We hiked Gros Piton yesterday and I'm feeling it in all the ways today.

I wore the look above after the hike yesterday -- all day -- from pool to dinner. Wearing a one piece as a top is one of my very favorite things to do in the summer. You just throw on a skirt out of the pool and you have yourself one versatile outfit for anytime during your day.

I felt like a Baywatch model in this swimsuit, and it's really amazing how good you can feel all covered up. It's weird but it's true! This scoop back swimsuit from J. Crew is absolutely amazing and it goes so well with my new berry skirt

Both of which are from J. Crew but actually bought through Nordstrom. One of my favorite little tricks is to buy this brand (and others) from Nordstrom. They usually have faster and free shipping, they are easier to return if need be and it's nice to just shop all in one place! So of course when J. Crew came to Nordstrom I let out a little yelp :)
