So I was originally going to post about how to transition your look from summer to fall since the weather was getting cooler, buttttt it didn't. So ya girl was stuck in 80-degree heat with this outfit. #Dumb, I know. Either way, it's still a pretty snazzy outfit if you ask me. And when the weather does decide to turn, you better believe I'll be wearing this again.

This plaid shirt was a great purchase from J. Crew Factory last year. I've worn it more times than I like to admit, but what are you going to do about it. This jacket has the same story line. I scored this Old Navy jacket a few years ago and it's been a huge fall staple for me since. I actually had this jacket in one of my first blog posts (that are now hidden because they're hideous).

And of course I'm still wearing white pants. "Will she ever stop?!" No, probably not. Probably never. I love them, they go with everything, and they're white. So your point is invalid. Can you tell I'm in a weird mood writing this? I always love getting in these moods because the writing comes so naturally to me. But to make sure not to bore and/or ramble, I will leave you here. See you tomorrow friends.

J. Crew is 40% off sale today. Yay! Those zip sweaters I mentioned over the weekend are included as well as some other favorites. Check them out below!

Starting to see a major theme lately at J. Crew. Sweater zippers are IN. I have this one (on MAJOR sale right now) and I love it! I'm starting to stock up on more options but I can't decide which one to get. So it's off to the store for me. Do you have a favorite? I'm really loving this color block one. Especially with how they have it layered. It's perfect.

Happy Weekend! Thought I would start a "Weekend Reading" series recapping every exciting week!

1. I really have a thing for plaid/tartan and I think it'll be a big hit this fall/winter. Therefore, I need these flats, right?

2. Rue La La came out with this great blog post about a guide for handbags. I thought it was really informative and a perfect history lesson on something we use everyday!

3. As we speak, I'm uploading a video of my apartment tour! (SOOOO late, I know but I wanted it to be perfect). So make sure you're following along on my YouTube channel. You never know when something might pop up :)

4. Speaking of videoing, I also just shot my apartment as well (the picture above is a sneak peek). I was thinking a double post of video and pictures would be fun! While shooting the apartment, we also had some time for a couple head shots of yours truly. I added the photo here if you want to see how it came out. I thought it was a perfect way to show my love of baseball and fashion.

5. Thanks for everyone's advice on this post! I ended up getting the LL Bean fisherman sweater and I LOVE it. Did I mention that it came so quickly?! You can see a real life shot of it here.

6. I would love to be more open with you all about blogging. How I make commission, how I balance a full time job and this blog, what it's really like to be a blogger… things along those lines. Would you be interesting in something like that? I really want to be transparent with you all. I don't ever want you to fell like I'm tricking you or abusing my power as a blogger. Leave any comments or questions below!

7. I'm loving Brooks Brothers new Red Fleece collection. I need to get my butt out of the apartment and over to their store so I can try some things on!

8. I'm starting to clean out my closet to make room for the bulky winter clothes. Be sure to follow along on instagram @ ctbcloset to see if there is anything you want. (It's empty now but won't be by the end of the weekend!)

9. As some of you may know (or might not-- that's okay too) Derek Jeter is retiring. Working in baseball, that's been all we've been thinking about this season. Being a lover of great advertising and a baseball fan, I wanted to share these three clips with you. All focus around his retirement, all are great in their own way. Watch (try not to cry) and enjoy!

(my favorite-- do you know he helped direct this?) Derek Jeter Made in New York

Oxford $89 (on sale for $64!) // Jeans $79 // Shoes $159 // Belt $48 // Buckle $28 // Sunglasses $200 // Earrings $28 (on sale for $20!) // Lipgloss $32 // Watch c/o $229 (15% off your purchase with "coveringbases" at checkout!)

Andrew has his ups and downs when we shoot blog photos and this time I have to applaud his talent! These photos turned out better than I could have expected. I kind of felt like I was in a Ralph Lauren photo shoot. Maybe it was the rustic barn behind me or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. Either way, we had a lot of fun shooting this outfit.

My most-worn items in my closet are my Ralph Lauren Oxfords. I have them in white, blue, yellow, purple stripe, pink stripe and blue stripe. Think I have enough? They just honestly go with everything. They're perfect for layering in the fall or wearing them rolled up and tied in the spring. I don't have too many chambray shirts and I think it's because of this oxford! It's just as perfect and does the same thing as chambray, but it's a little more laid back. I also *tried* to roll my sleeves like Jenna Lyons told me to, but I honestly think it's just for show. They kept coming undone so easily and there was no good place to roll them! Maybe I'm doing it wrong…

Anywayyyy, I'm also sporting my new jeggings. I was looking for a lighter wash of "jeans" (I say jeans that way because I don't actually like to wear jeans and I only really wear jeggings. If you haven't heard about jeggings, check out these or these -- you'll thank me later) and stumbled across these jeggings from Gap. UMMMM WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! I love them!

pssst Ralph Lauren is 25% off and free shipping through October 2nd!

360 Pearl Earrings

These 360 Pearl Earrings haven't left my ears since I got them. I obviously love them... They're such a fun new take on the regular pearl earring.

They've been sold out for a while now, but today they're only $20 (and in stock!). Hurry and buy now!

Hope you love them as much as I do.

(Juuuust in case $20 is too much for earrings they're also sold here for $14here for $8 and even if that is too much they're here for $4)
Shirt $295 // Jeans $62 // Shoes $14 // Watch c/o $229 (15% off your purchase with "coveringbases" at checkout! // Lipgloss $32 // Ray-Bans $200 // Earrings $28 ($20 today!!)

As the years go by, I found my wardrobe changing from cheap $20 clothing to more investment pieces. I think if it's something that will be around forever, it's okay to splurge a little. This shirt is a perfect example of that. I love my Burberry coats (tan and brown) and I knew I wanted to add another piece to my collection. The Burberry Brit check shirt was a classic (and more affordable) choice that I fell in love with. Affordable compared to the trench that I will drool over till the end of eternity.

I love pairing this top with darker accessories. I just recently bought a new pair of flats (yes, I'm becoming a flats person -- damn you, New York) but they're cute (read: quilted and cap-toed) and extremely comfortable (New York street tested). I also paired it with my new Daniel Wellington watch! You know I'm a sucker for watches and I couldn't wait to add this black leather one to my collection. It's so simple and yet very elegant. I haven't taken it off since I got it! Daniel Wellington is also offering my readers 15% off their purchase when you use "coveringbases" at checkout! (This will also make a great gift if you're on the hunt for something. Andrew has approved!)

If you remember this photo from a week ago, you'd recognize the top half of this outfit. I recently purchased this J. Crew zip sweater and I love it! I'm all about layering in the colder months and this sweater won't let you do anything but layer. The zippers are made to show off the button-up underneath and I'm all about a crisp white oxford. It's a fun new take on a sweater and I'm already gearing up to buy a few more colors (they're on sale!)
